Fashion Trends for Autumn 2011
There are two main eras making a comeback this season; the 60’s and 70’s. Next to these eras there are also going to be various elements from the 1930’s and the orient. Naturally, everyone interprets fashion differently but there are a few key points to keep in mind with this season’s trends. The 70’s isn’t a random comeback for the bell-bottom; it’s all about sophistication and bold colors. The 60’s is all about feminine and structured.
The 70’s trend for 2011 is about a few unique characteristics that embody the spirit of the era. Sky-high platforms and exotic jewelry are just a few examples. Think high-waisted and wide-legged or flared pants with a chic belt. Silky and satiny blouses are also important elements of this trend. Roll neck sweaters are also key pieces but tuck them into your pants or skirts to keep with the trend.
If you want to follow the 60’s trend than keep in mind that this particular era can be broken down into three main categories; mod fashion, sex kitten, and folk. Mod fashion is characteristically bright block colors, colorful geometric fashions, masculine flat shoes like loafers, and swing coats or capes. The 60’s folk fashion is more defined by lace, “Peter Pan” collars, short hemlines, and monochrome white, black, and cream. Sex kittens of the 60’s wore pieces that cinched the waist, accentuating feminine curves, pencil skirts, high-waisted cropped pants, and full circle skirts.
You can also combine elements from both trends to piece together an ultra-modern look. There are no strict rules when it comes to fashion. It’s all about what makes you feel good and flatters you the best.
